Maiwe

The story of brand new Belgian label MAIWE starts in Chile. Where Maayke Ruyffelaere, founder of the brand, lived with her partner for 5 years after finishing her bio-engineering studies. Fascinated by the wild flora, the beautiful nature and untamed natural surroundings, Maayke formulated a skincare line based on the natural ingredients found there, such as the wild rose. The name MAIWE is shared with a lake in the Andes, a beautiful place in the high mountains of Chile. After 5 inspiring years, Maayke and her partner returned to Belgium after the birth of their daughter, and brought a beautiful piece of Chile with them.

As the icing on the cake, MAIWE partnered with a women-owned local business in southern Chile who harvest the fresh rosehip, the key ingredient throughout the skincare range. A rosehip oil with much higher concentrations of vitamin A and C than the usual cold-pressed variety. The difference is immediately noticeable in the texture, results, colour and smell. By involving local women in the process, they also receive financial security outside of harvest season - a true win-win. In addition, part revenue is invested in self-selected sustainable development projects in the area.

MAIWE products are developed according to the principles of natural skincare: without synthetic substances or perfumes, ideal for the most sensitive skin.
